NERC Compliance

      The North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) regulations introduced following the 2005 Energy Policy Act are designed to protect North Americans from unplanned power outages due to generation or transmission problems and also from deliberate attack on the physical infrastructure or automated controls systems used to manage the electricity supply.

      Compliance with NERC standards is required by all industry players including ISOs (Independent System Operators), energy generators, transmission and distribution companies. Failure to comply or respond quickly and completely to regulatory audits can lead to heavy penalties and fines charged on a daily basis.
