    John H Phillips

    Chairman of the BPS Resolver Board of Directors

    John H. Phillips is the Chairman of the Board of Directors for BPS Resolver. Additionally, John is CEO of Klister Credit Corp., a private equity firm focusing on early stage companies.  John’s current board responsibilities include those for: Redknee Solutions, Digit Wireless, Virtual Marine Technology, NeoEdge Networks and White Pine Pictures. Until June 2007, he served as a director of SMART Technologies, Inc.

    A seasoned corporate director, consultant and attorney specializing in business law, John started his career with Blake, Cassels and Graydon, becoming partner in 1982.  After leaving that firm in 1994, John held several positions at Clearnet Communications Inc., including Executive Vice President, Carrier Relations & General Counsel.  John held similar roles at TELUS Mobility after TELUS’s acquisition of Clearnet in 2000.

    John has served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Canadian Wireless Telecommunications Association and currently serves as Past Chair of the Canadian Merit Scholarship Foundation.

    John earned a B.A. from Trinity College, University of Toronto in 1971 and law degree from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto in 1974. He and his wife, Cathy, share time between Toronto, ON and Flatrock, NL.  They are very proud of their three adult children.

    Mark Opausky

    Board Member, President and Co-founder

    Mark A. Opausky, founded Business Propulsion Systems, Inc. in 2000 and serves as it’s President. Mr. Opausky is the originator of the Convergence Process Model, a lean process conceptual approach to reducing risk and overcoming obstacles during the execution of complex undertakings.

    Mr. Opausky served as Chief Executive Officer of Business Propulsion Systems, Inc. Previously, Mr. Opausky directed client and program management for global engineering companies such as: Dana Corporation and Echlin Incorporated. Mr. Opausky managed client and product portfolios in excess of $200 Million on behalf of clients such as DaimlerChrysler, Ford, General Motors and others. He currently writes and speaks on critical business efficiency subjects such as: Effective Project Execution, Business Process Cost Reduction and Strategic Level Visibility. He was nominated 2003 Entrepreneur of the Year by Ernst & Young.

    Mr. Opausky holds a Bachelor of Engineering, majoring in quantum mechanics and device material processing from McMaster University and studied a Masters of Business Administration at Oakland University in Detroit, Michigan.

    Steve Taylor

    Board Member, CEO and Co-founder

    Before acquiring and taking control of Resolver (formerly Barrett Saunders Inc.), Steve was instrumental in the profitable growth of Cyberplex – an Internet Professional Services firm – from 12 employees when he arrived, to almost 100 people today. His management responsibilities at Cyberplex included Vice President of Sales and Client Services for North America, VP of Marketing, MD of European Operations as well as mandates that covered R&D, Service Innovation, M&A, and the public listing of the company on the TSE.

    Prior to joining Cyberplex, Steve was an early contributor to Fuel advertising which he helped develop into a successful and profitable Toronto-based advertising agency that was eventually acquired by Draft Worldwide. His role there was primarily New Business, Client Service and the creation of marketing strategies for Fuel’s clients.


  • Bill Kostenko
    Bill Kostenko

    Board Member

    Bill is CEO of Beringer Capital (parent company of Financial Task Force) which he founded in 1990. He is also General Partner of The Mentor Fund, which invests intellectual and financial capital in “emerging” marketing and communications companies.

    Bill has more than 25 years of experience and is a recognized expert in advising and managing high growth firms. He has implemented numerous transactions involving divestment, acquisition and financing solutions. He has also been involved in numerous crisis situations in a leadership role. 

    From 1986 to 1990, Bill was the Chief Financial Officer and a significant shareholder in Sherwood, a holding company with 14 operating subsidiaries in the communications industry. Bill negotiated the divestment and sale of several subsidiaries of Sherwood during the late 1980′s. 

    Prior to Sherwood, Bill held senior financial management positions with a number of manufacturing and technology based companies including Genesis Microchip, Mitel, Rolm Canada and Rockwell International. 

    Bill serves several private and public company boards and is an advisor to the Queen’s Centre for Enterprise Development. He has an M.B.A. in finance from McMaster University as well as a B.A. in Economics.

    James Eaton is the President of Weaton’s Holdings Ltd., a Canadian private holding company, and General Partner of Tancho Innovation Capital. Mr. Eaton’s experience spans a wide variety of industries and companies at varying stages of development. He’s a Director of Biox Corporation, Metaris Inc. and BPS Resolver Inc. and is the trustee for the John David and Signy Eaton Foundation.

    Scott Clark

    Scott joined Covington in March 2001 bringing with him close to 20 years of investment experience. In his role of Managing Director Scott is responsible for assessing new business opportunities, negotiating and structuring transactions and actively advising investee companies in their daily operations.

    Prior to joining Covington, Scott was a Vice-President at Harrowston Inc. where he assisted in the formulation of a venture capital investment strategy to expand Harrowston beyond traditional buyouts. Scott was also a Vice-President at Working Ventures Canadian Fund Inc. for 6 years where he executed numerous venture investments transactions across Canada. Prior to Working Ventures, Scott held various positions at the Business Development Bank of Canada.

    Scott currently sits on the Board of Directors of Adventus Remediation Technologies, BPS Resolver Inc., Echelon General Insurance, Linea Marketing Group, MMIST Inc., and TNR Industrial Doors Inc. Among Scott’s most recent successful divestitures are ProShred and Golf Town. Golf Town now trades as an income trust on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
